J.J. Hester is a well accomplished, upstanding professional in the Irish Dance industry. J.J. is a licensed teacher and adjudicator of Irish Dance through the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha. He travels to Syracuse to hold workshops for the Roisin Dancers, allowing them to experience his excellent skill set & teaching style. He has been a longtime friend of Lisa's & is adored by each of the dancers & families at Roisin Academy. J.J. currently owns & operates the Hester Academy of Irish Dance in Delaware.

​​Premier Syracuse Irish Dance School

Lisa started dancing at the age of eight. She instantly fell in love with the sport of Irish Dance & everything it involved. ​​At the mere age of 13, Lisa started teaching, assisting her dance instructor with their classes in Syracuse, as well as holding lessons for dancers in her parent's studio basement.

Lisa successfully competed on a Regional, National & International World Championship level for both solo & team championships. She consistently ranked in the Top 10 of the Regional & National Championships. Lisa qualified & had the honor of competing at the World Championships of Irish Dance multiple times throughout the span of her competitive career.
Towards the end of her competitive career, she spent a brief time performing on stage for world renowned fiddle player Eileen Ivers on tour.
​After permanently moving back to Syracuse, she studied for & earned her TCRG (Irish dance teaching certification) through the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (Irish Dancing Commission) in 2011. Roisin Academy has been in full force ever since. Years have been spent sculpting & crafting the Roisin Academy into the premier school it is today. Roisin has produced a Regional Champion, National medalists & World Championship medalists. ​To the present day, Lisa is the owner & director of the Roisin Academy of Irish Dance, home to many wonderful, dedicated students & families.

Tim Abel, (Lisa's loving, supportive husband!) is a physical therapist at Upstate Bone & Joint. He graduated from the University at Buffalo with a doctorate in Physical Therapy, as well as obtaining his Orthopedic Specialist Certification. 

Practicing physical therapy since 2008, Tim spends his time rehabilitating patients with injuries of every spectrum. Knee replacements, athletic injuries, physical disabilities- Tim is exceptional at his craft & personally caring for each of his patients. Tim volunteers his time coaching the Roisin Dancers on strengthening, sports agility, injury prevention & overall training to better them for the sport of Irish Dance.
